The Social Contagion Mechanism of Twitter Social bots in China-related Issues——The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games as an ExampleChinese Full Text

Abstract: Among the major social media platforms, Twitter ranks at the top with its whopping 436million users and its 211 million monthly active users, and 48 million of these accounts are social bots. With the increase in the number of social bots on Twitter, the structure of interaction and social contagion subjects in social media has changed, so what kind of interaction characteristics do social media users present? What are the contagion strategies of social bots? What are the social contagion mechanisms of social bots? These are three questions that arise from the current engagement of social bots. Based on this, taking the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games as an example, we use Python to crawl relevant tweets on Twitter, and through visual analysis of social bot accounts and tweets, we can find that social bots construct dynamic social network structures according to specific purposes and for different types of contagion, to achieve their information diffusion and social contagion.
